Moni’s Orange Chocolate cake for all the Mother’s out there! Make your Mum’s Day special, because she is special, by baking this wonderful orange cake for her.
What better way to say a big thank you to your mother, then with this deliciously moist orangey sponge, topped with a gorgeous chocolate cream. A special thanks to Moni’s mum for providing the inspiration for wholesome cooking.

Ingredients
(GF, DF)
- 250g rice flour
- 250g almond flour
- 250g coconut oil
- 250g coconut sugar
- 3 tsp gluten free baking powder
- 4 eggs
- 2 orange juice
- 4 orange zest
Chocolate Icing
- 2 tbsp coconut oil
- 2 tbsp almond butter
- 2tbsp maple syrup
- 2 tbsp coconut or Greek yoghurt
- 2tbsp raw cacao powder
Pre- heat your oven to 180C.
Put all the dried ingredients in a bowl and combine well. Place the coconut oil and sugar in a food processor and blend well for about 2 minutes. Add the eggs, orange juice and zest and continue blending until well mixed.
Remove from the food processor and fold in to the dry ingredients.
Grease a 25cm tin with coconut oil. Pour the mixture in the prepared tin and bake for 35/40 minutes.
Once the cake is baked, leave it to cool in the tin for 10 minutes.
Icing:
Place all the ingredients in a pan except for the yoghurt, in a medium heat and whisk until smooth and creamy. Add the yoghurt and combine well. Put in the fridge for 15 minutes to set before icing the cake.
